Elementary School Chinese Math Teacher

Job Description:

1. Provide professional high-quality Chinese Math teaching services for Elementary school students, prepare teaching plans and curriculum;
2. Have good professional ethics and sense of service, love education, teaching, and students;
3. Complete teaching tasks according to syllabus and teaching arrangement;
4. Excite students’ interest in Chinese Math learning and stimulate creativity;
5. Highly responsible for students, good communication skills and teamwork spirit, able to undertake student management and promote active learning environment;
6. Participate in teaching and research activities and improve professional teaching and research level.

1. Undergraduate degree or above. Math teaching credential/certificate required.
2. Major in Math is preferred;
3. Excellent interpersonal communication skills
4. English/Mandarin bilingual proficiency

Position: Music Specialist

JOB LOCATION: The Bay Academy, Shenzhen, China

REPORTS TO: Division Principal


Philosophy & Principles: At The Bay Academy, we believe that the work of learning professionals is grounded in shared principles and a common language around how we engage in the art and science of teaching and learning.  Each of our teaching actions is anchored in the following four key principles:

  • Ownership of Learning: We are all able to learn and ultimately responsible for our own learning. 
  • Nature of Learning: Learning is emotional and cognitive and is both an individual and social experience. 
  • Contexts of Learning: Learning transfer happens best in rich, relevant contexts.  


Responsibilities & Duties: Teachers at The Bay Academy action these principles when they:

  • Actively engage in the design, delivery, and demonstration of student learning experiences.
  • Effectively (co)plan, (co)teach, and (co)moderate with colleagues across all levels, including curriculum mapping, to provide differentiated and optimal learning access to all learners. 
  • Support all students in acquiring the language for learning that is necessary to access learning in each classroom/discipline. 
  • Provide students reflection frameworks and learning feedback that are timely, specific, practicable, and respectful. 
  • Incorporate learners’ voice and choice in multiple academic, integrated, and individualized contexts for growth and accountability. 
  • Take professional responsibility for mastering the pedagogies required to develop deep conceptual understanding, high levels of competency, and strong moral character. 
  • Create safe and engaging learning communities, attending to social, emotional, and cognitive learning.  
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues to deepen understanding of teaching practice. 
  • Design learning that has a clear, sustained purpose across contexts and disciplines and beyond the classroom. 
  • Maintain regular and meaningful communication with relevant stakeholders, including parents and school leaders, regarding students’ learning achievements, current needs, and growth goals.

Position Details:

Successful teacher candidates at The Bay Academy possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (required)
  • Valid teaching certificate or proof of fully-qualified teacher status (required)
  • Excellent communication skills; English proficiency (required)
  • Two or more years of successful teaching experience (required)
  • Two or more years serving in international schools (preferred)


Additionally, successful Music teachers at The Bay Academy have:

  • A knowledge of a range of music content and techniques (required). 
  • Experience implementing the National Core Arts Standards (preferred). 
  • The ability to use music standards in the planning, teaching, and assessment of learning (required).   
  • An understanding of various approaches to teaching music on the elementary and secondary school levels (required).
  • A commitment to supporting after-school events and activities related to the music program (required). 
  • Experience teaching multiple grade levels (preferred).
  • The ability to take a leadership role in planning one or more campus-wide annual performances.
